I love this series! There are some legit laugh out loud moments. The title character is lovable and charming with some southern sass! She's caught between a rock and a hard place but she is funny and tough stuff! The book is a fast pace easy read- much akin to the Janet evanovich Stephanie Plum series- but with more southern charm and humidity!
Great series for romance, comedy and mystery- easy read, not too predictable plot and characters that you can believe

Whiskey For Breakfast An Addison Holmes Mystery Addison Holmes Mysteries Book 3 edition by Liliana Hart Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I realize there is almost nothing I can say that won't in some way be a spoiler here, so I'm rather stuck. IF YOU KEEP READING, PREPARE FOR SLIGHT SPOILERS!
I really give this 3.5 stars because I was SO impressed with Addison in the last book staying true to herself and strong. That was totally out of left field for what I expected for the character. This one however, is exactly what I'd expected.
It's still fun and crazy and yeah, I literally laughed out loud at the VW Bug getaway scene. And the characters were wonderfully written and some new ones were introduced, some back story filled in. When Addison speaks in her "tone reserved for annoying store clerks," it is hilarious too, as is the follow up scene.
Since I would have made very different choices than Addison does, it's harder for me to relate this time. Savage is back and playing hard at being a good choice for her - and sheesh he mows her yard once a week?! Liliana sure writes men too good to be true, but sort of believable too. I really like that, even though it makes me jealous! Plus, he just generally fascinates me...
The BFF of Addison and Kate is precious and fun, the action is rolicking and comes from all different directions but ends in one place...it's a good, fun read.
The minus 1/2 a star comes into play due to her being mostly like Wile Coyote with the Roadrunner; she keeps getting the equivalent of anvils physically dropped on her head and just pops back up. That is beginning to require a suspension of disbelief I am having a hard time summoning/keeping up with. I missed the ice cream addiction being (mostly) replaced by cheap wine and/or booze, and lots of it.
We'll see what the future brings (and I wish we knew when, already!). And I'll be looking forward to it.
I've just read the first three books in the Addison Holmes series in the last week! All I can say is I want more!! There is steamy romance, never ending interruptions (usually related to a dead body), and belly rolling laughter! If you need a pick-me up give this series a try, I think you will agree and LOVE it! And now a bit about the story...
Addison Holmes is still an unemployed spy in training. She is working to get her PI license, but has to finish at the top of her class on the written test, firearms test, and physical fitness test. Right now she can't run a mile without puking on the neighbors lawn. Things aren't looking good... In steps agent Savage to help her get trained and just as she is getting the hang of it, her house is broken into and her head bashed into the wall, putting a slight damper on her training. Not that Nick minds, he still loves her and hates it when she spends any time with the hot FBI man. Only question is can he recover from leaving her in the hospital with a bullet wound??? And you'll never guess who is the bad guy this time - I was completely surprised - AGAIN!! Plus there is cliffhanger with the results of her test ... will she get positive score on all them? Are we sure she really wants to?
Favorite passages
- My stealth abilities had improved by about a hundred and fifty percent since my first day on the job. Which wasn't saying much. It was the same thing as saying a kindergartner could finally use the paste without eating it.
- I was almost positive that Savage would be miraculous in bed. Like an oversexed Captain Kirk, exploring uncharted territory.
- "He was ugly as homemade sin but he was a good man. That counted for something back in those days you know. Now all women want are rippling muscles and monster schlongs. I read all about it in Cosmo. Those kind of men are good for an affair but not for the long haul."
Great work Liliana!!! Can't wait for the next installment!
This series is the best yet ,even though the others were good, but I never laughed so hard at Addison ,p.i. In training and her misfortune cluzt that keeps happening to her. She and her detective cop nick take their relationship to next level. I loved these series of Holmes i fell in loved with all the main characters, addison, nick, savage, phebee (Addison sister), rosaliee(her teacher friend), kate, her boss, her mother and her mother newly husband vince, which is a cop. I recommend this series to anyone who loves a good mystery with humour thrown in with a little chaotic action thrown in also .
Addison Holmes has finally begun to look like the intelligent woman she would have to be in order to teach history to high school students. Earlier in the series, she seemed to behave like a silly teenager, ignoring her "mother's" instructions or in her case it would be her boss and the detective who loves her madly instructions. Her mother is a piece of work who Addison avoids as much as possible since mom is a gossip who never ceases to pry any information she can from her daughter. Now, that mom has "found her true self" after her policeman husband passed on and she married another police officer who was her deceased husband's friend, she has less time to annoy Addison which may explain why Addison is adapting her newly learned skills as an investigator more efficiently. She is still not without mishaps or the strong possibility she will get in over her head, but she is using her head which makes her more interesting. The sparring between Nick and her could end when, in book 3, Nick proposes.
